Causes and solutions for heating of hydraulic motors




Hydraulic motors and hydraulic pumps are the two most important heat sources in hydraulic systems. The hydraulic motor is the actuator, which mainly executes the rotary motion, which is the process of converting pressure energy into mechanical energy. The hydraulic pump is the process of converting mechanical energy into pressure energy, which is to provide a pressure source for the entire hydraulic system. Today we are analyzing the problem of heating of hydraulic motors. Heating is inevitable in the entire hydraulic system, but the heating must be strictly controlled. As the name suggests, heat is energy loss, that is, a lot of power is directly turned into heat when doing useless work. That is to say, under the same working conditions, the more serious the heating of the hydraulic motor is, the worse the performance of the hydraulic motor is, and the general mechanical efficiency is lower. Therefore, when designing a hydraulic motor, the static pressure balance and the mechanical friction coefficient should be as small as possible, so that the mechanical efficiency can be improved as much as possible, and the hydraulic motor will not generate serious heat. However, it is inevitable that the hydraulic motor generates heat during operation.


There may be two factors that determine the heating of the hydraulic motor, namely the working pressure and the working speed. Generally, the higher the pressure and speed, the more serious the heating of the hydraulic motor will be.


Generally, the working oil temperature of hydraulic motors should be controlled below 70℃ as much as possible. If it is too high, a cooling system must be used. Common cooling systems are water-cooled and air-cooled, and the effect of water-cooling is better. The better the control of the heating of the hydraulic system, the better the stability of the hydraulic system, and there will be no problems with the hydraulic components.
